Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLS)
According to the AAC&U Intercultural Knowledge and Competence VALUE Rubric, those growing in intercultural competence move from having a minimal understanding of differences to being able to articulate a complex understanding of intercultural communication. The pervasiveness of emojis/emoticons in contemporary communication offer ample opportunities for playing interactively with emojis that reflect culture and that can be misunderstood because of cultural differences. Participants will leave with several emoji-centered activities they can do with their own audiences.
