China US Transnational Higher Education: Value Propositions, Challenges and Opportunities

US is the leading source of TNEs in China with three (3) International Branch Campuses offering 51 majors, 13 Master programs and 11 PhD degrees; 259 joint education programs (JEPs) and 36 joint education institutes (JEIs) at Bachelor level; 51 JEPs and 15 JEIs at Master level; and 11 Doctoral degree programs. These projects have been valuable to all stakeholders especially to the students. This section examines updated data of current US TNE projects in China, analyzes challenges faced by the US institutions, and discusses future opportunities and best practices.
Learning Objectives:
After my presentation, participants will be able to design strategies to collaborate with Chinese institutions for transnational higher education projects which generate steady flow of high-quality students and flows of confirmed revenue of tuition fees from students.
During my presentation, participants will discuss potential challenges and best practice solutions in starting transnational higher education projects in China, including generating revenue and transparent expatriation of revenue to US. The revenue is tuition fee paid by students.
During my presentation, participants will learn opportunities in current regulatory environment for TNE in China and strategies to include study abroad, staff development, joint research into a TNE operation.
