Thursday, October 31, 2024
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM CDT
Location: Schaumburg F
Presentation Description: This session will cover the increasing issue of incoming students requesting to transfer to another school before the start of their program. We will share data and trends from the 2023-2024 academic year that we have seen at Eastern Michigan University and present our findings to attendees, who will then discuss and share their school's current trends in small and large groups. The discussion will facilitate thinking regarding why transferring out has become so prevalent, potential solutions, and processing changes to alleviate the increased workload.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the different trends regarding where these students are coming from, why are they transferring, and ways to curb the demand for admissions transfers.
Return to their institutions and collaborate with other on-campus departments and partners to address the issue of increasing admission transfers.
Return to their institutions and investigate utilizing different processes or technology to address the increased workload due to admissions transfers.
