Megan Otermat is an experienced international education professional with a multifaceted knowledge base developed over 20 years in in the field. She has worked with international students engaging in high school exchange, short-term study abroad, English language learning and degree study at both the undergraduate and graduate degree levels at a variety of institutions. She has served as International Student Advisor at the University of Chicago, developed and implemented an international student recruitment plan for North Central College, and directed operations for the Center for Cultural Interchange’s Academic Year Program. In her current role as Senior Assistant Director of International Admission at DePaul University, Megan has developed effective yield activities and collaborated with DePaul’s graduate schools and colleges to streamline students’ international admission process and increase application completion rates while also expanding and managing the university’s network of recruitment agent partners. In each of these roles, Megan’s commitment to furthering international education opportunities has led her to be active in professional organizations. She has served as Four-Year Institution Representative, Chair-Elect, and Chair of Study Illinois, working to promote Illinois as a study destination and to enhance networking and training opportunities for new professionals in international enrollment management. She has also served on the NAFSA curriculum revision team for the workshop “Beyond Advising: Management Basics for International Educators” and on the Evaluation Committee for the Council for Standards in International Educational Travel. With a BA in International Relations and German Studies from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA from North Central College, Megan’s academic and practical experience allow her a unique insight into the student experience and industry practice.
