Dr. Krista Tacey serves as the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman’s (CIS Ombudsman) regional representative for the Central Region, joining the team after 11 years with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), where she served in a range of positions, most recently as a senior advisor in the Office of Citizenship. Prior to that,
she served as the chief of leadership development programs, and led several training initiatives, including the development of ImmigrationU, while also supporting the Department of Homeland Security in a number of training and consulting roles at headquarters and in the field.
Before joining USCIS, she served as the director of international student services at Texas A&M University, where she led a team that was responsible for the welfare and immigration status of more than 5,000 international students and their dependents. While there, she also served as an advisor to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and to the state of Texas on matters related to international students.
Dr. Tacey’s career has afforded her many opportunities to lead in challenging environments. As a diplomat at the Department of State, she was posted to embassies and consulates in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. In addition to fulfilling her primary role as a public diplomacy officer, Dr. Tacey adjudicated over 30,000 visas, as well as hundreds of passports and consular reports of birth abroad.
Dr. Tacey earned her PhD in educational psychology from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in government from the University of Texas, and a bachelor’s in political science from Texas A&M University. She is a certified stakeholder-centered coach and mediator, as well as a certified facilitator for Situational Leadership, Crucial Conversations, Crucial Accountability, and the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks suite of 360-degree feedback tools. Dr. Tacey is a John Maxwell certified coach, trainer, and speaker.
She resides in Frisco, TX with her husband, Alex, and their son, Niko.
