Advising Best Practices that foster F-1 students experiencing Academic Burnout

Presentation Description: This interactive presentation will provide international educators information on their role in fostering problem-solving skills for F-1 students experiencing academic burnout. Attendees will gain insight on how to best advise students in understanding the complexity in F-1 regulations, builda sense of belongingto promote students’ wellness, and increase students’ academic performance by leveraging their relationships with other departments to reduce barriers. Attendees will also have an opportunity to collaborate with others to brainstorm new ideas.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion participant will be able to demonstrate ways they can advise students to comprehend the complexity in F-1 regulations and help them stay on academic track for graduation.
Upon completion participant will be able to demonstrate knowledge in how to build sense of belonging through relationships with current students, student organizations and by implementing programs and events.
Upon completion, participants can take away ideas to bring back to their campus that will help foster international students experiencing academic burnout.
